Zewnętrzna powłoka stadionu składa się z ponad 2800 ogromnych polietylenowych bąbelków wyglądających jak pęcherzyki, z których każdy jest wypełniony suchym powietrzem. I tak Allianz Arena przybiera kolor czerwony (dla FC Bayern München), niebieski (dla TSV 1860 München) oraz biały dla gier neutralnych (np. mecze drużyny narodowej). Podświetlenie stadionu kosztuje około 60 euro na godzinę, a ogromna moc do tego zużyta sprawia, że w przejrzystą noc Allianz Arenę można dostrzec nawet z odległych o 75 km austriackich szczytów.
Przyciąga imponującą infrastrukturą
Stadion posiada rozbudowaną infrastrukturę. Na jego terenie znajdują się m.in. trzy żłobki, dwa sklepy dla fanów – “Megastore” Bayernu liczący 800 m² oraz TSV 1860 – z 400 m² powierzchni sklepowej. Poza tym wokół stadionu działa 28 kiosków z artykułami dla kibiców. Znajdują się tu sale konferencyjne, pomieszczenia biurowe, także kilka restauracji, które zajmują łącznie powierzchnię ok. 6 500 m². Do stadionu należy także czteropoziomowy parking na 10 500 samochodów i jest to jednocześnie największy samochodowy parking w Europie.

Allianz za trzydziestoletnią umowę płaci rocznie ok. 6 milionów euro, czyli prawie tyle, ile wynosi budżet Wisły Kraków. Łączna suma transakcji naming rights to około 180 mln euro, to ponad połowa łącznej kwoty wydanej na budowę stadionu.
Dzięki tej inwestycji Allianz, największy dostarczyciel usług finansowych na świecie, ma możliwość dotarcia z ekspozycją swojej marki do milionów swoich potencjalnych klientów. Jednocześnie jest to bardzo dobry ruch wizerunkowy, zwłaszcza w momencie gdy wyszło na jaw współuczestniczenie Allianz w historycznym holocauście podczas II Wojny Światowej.
Arena bez Allianz podczas mundialu
Nazwa sponsora nie była widoczna podczas mundialu w 2006 roku. FIFA World wymagała od każdego stadionu goszczącego World Cup usunięcia jakichkolwiek brandingów komercyjnych, podczas trwania turnieju.
